I finished it!

I wrote a novel!

I really have no idea why it took me so long to start trying, but I did it! I finished on the 4th of July. I started it around the beginning of June. Before starting, I made an outline and a goal to knock out 10 pages a day. Some days were more fruitful than others, but I spent the majority of each day on my laptop, typing frantically. I refused to do anything else until I reached or surpassed 10 pages.

I did run into a small hiccup before finishing. My laptop decided that it did not want to subject itself to that much daily use. The screen crapped out, but thanks to iCloud, I was able to continue. That cloud stuff really makes sense when devices start acting up.

Now that’s it’s done… I don’t know what to do with my hands. I have left it alone for a few days, then gone back and revised and edited grammar. I sent it to a couple people I trust to give it a pair of fresh eyes. Other than that? No idea.

I am nervous about the idea of publishing, simply because it’s something I’ve never done before. There are a lot of helpful blogs and videos about using Amazon or trying to sell to indie bookstores. I don’t know about trying to find a literary agent or any of that. I’m not sure I’m ready to take on all of that. Instead I’m choosing to congratulate myself, even if it never sees the light of day outside of my friends and family.

At the very least, I can say I’m a writer! Woo-hoo!
